ATHLETICS.
THE TARANAKI GOVERNING BODY. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Athletic and Caledonian Association, held at Stratford on the 11th inst., was attended by Messrs. J. Clarke (New Plymouth) chairman, A. Hansen (Eltham), G. P. McAinsh (Normanb.v), N. C. Innes (Auroa), E. Forsyth (Pihama), and J. H. Thompson (secretary). The annual report, as already published, and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. J. B. Hine, M.P.; president, Mr. P. Skoglund; vice-presi-dent, Mr. A. McHardy; executive, Messrs. J. Clarke, A. Hansen, L. C. Jennins, G. P. McAinsh, N. P. Innes, James McLeod, and one to be nominated by the Bawera Society; secretary, Mr. J. H. Thompson; auditor, Mr. L. Riera. The latter was accorded a vote of thanks for his past services. Resolutions as follows were also passed:— "That the action of the Union in taking over the cdntrol of cycling bn heartily endorsed by the Taranaki Centre." "That it be a remit to the New Zealand Athletic Union that a club shall have the 'right to compel a competitor to be photographed if necessary." "That the Axemen's Association be asked to fall into line with other clubs with reference to the Union's control of cycling."
At a subsequent meeting of the executive Mr. J. Clarke was re-elected chairman; and Messrs, Clarke and Hansen were appointed as delegates to represent the centre at the New Zealand Athletic Union's annual meeting, Stratford Post.
