A return of the estimated population! of the Dominion on September 30 last shows:— Increases during September quarter— By births 6,(510 By arrivals 7,149 13,759 I Decrease during quarter— By deaths 2,701 By departure 6,965 9,666 Net increase 4,093 Estimated population (exclusive of Maoris 992,369 Maoris 47,731 Cook and Pacific Islands 12,340 Total population ... 1,052,440 Of the above (wliites) 524,406 are males' and 467,963 females. Maoris: 25,538 males, 22,193 females. Islands: 6224 males, 6116 females.
