THE NEW LOAN.
ISSUED AT.9B»/ 2 . By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the House of Representatives tonight, during discussion on the New Zealand Loans Amendment Bill, Mr. Massey referred to the cable message appearing in the evening paper, stating that underwriting is proceeding in connection with the issue of five millions of New Zealand bonds, and asked if Sir Joseph Ward had any statement to make on the matter.
Sir Joseph Ward replied that he did not intend to disclose financial transactions at the present juncture. The financial business of the Dominion wa* being well and properly attended to. He was prepared at the proper time to inform the House of what was being done. Wellington, Later.
In the House "to-night Sir Joseph Ward announced that he had just received a cable from the High Commissioner relative to the five millions loan. Until arrangements were completed, all negotiations were regarded as confidential, but he could now say that the loan was raised at 3y 2 per cent., at a rate of £9B 10s, not £B9 10s, as stated in the cable. The statement was received with cheers.
