AMUSEMENTS.

" DOROTHY." The New Plymouth Amateur Operatic Society has consented to give another performance of "Dorothy" in the Theatre Royal on Friday night. This time - the proceeds will be devoted to the hospital funds, a worthy object that should commend itself to all charitablydisposed persons. Mr. F. J. Easther, who presented the character of "Lurcher," the sheriff's officer, h:u received notice of his transfer from New Plymouth, and it is on this account that the performance is being given at such short notice.

THE ORATORIO. "ELIJAH." The famous oratorio, "Elijah," is to be produced in the Theatre Royal next month by the united Liedertafel and Liederkranz societies, under the baton of Mr. G. Herbert White. The chorus is a very strong one, utilising practically the full strength of the combinations which presented the concerts recently by the two societies separately; and full band parts have been secured for the orchestra. The management has been fortunate in obtaining the services as soloists of Mrs. Maud (Feilding), soprano; Mrs. Raker (Christchureh), contralto; Mr. Wirt Hutchens (Hnwera), tenor; and Mr. J. W. Ryan (Auckland), bass, who will take the part of the prophet. Mrs. Maud, Mrs. Barber and Mr. Hutchens are taking part in the "Elijah" at Feilding, where it is to be produced a week earlier than the New Plvmouth date.
