BOWLING.
FITZROY CLUB. The opening day at this Club's green was a pleasant one, the ladies being present in their summer finery and in their attention to the wants of the inner man during the afternoon. It was decided, owing to the number of new players, to dispense with the usual president's v. vice-president's match, and play resolved itself into friendly contests on the different rinks. During the afternoon Mr. C. S. Rennell presented the president (Mr. Healy) with the cup won in last year's singles; Mr. Healy presented Messrs. R. Callender and 0. Oxenham, winners of the pairs, with a set of carvers and a pair of bowls respectfullycmfwyp mh shrdlu mh shmsm speetively. The president, in a few well-chosen remarks, thanked the ladies for providing afternoon tea. Personally, he was always pleased to see them on the green, and expressed the opinion that they should take on the game. Among the visitors on the green were a good number of members of the West °End Club. The caretaker, Mr. Ward, had the green in good order. The West End Bowling Club were represented at the New Plvmoutli Club's opening by Mr. J. D. Sole (president) and Mr. H. J. Hobbs (secretary).
