One of the biggest Oak Day crowds spent an unpleasant day on the course, the weather being close and thundering. It rained slightly during the Hurdles, and there was a heavy downpour solidly for half an hour before the Linlithgow Stakes, drenching the crowds. The ladies' costumes, of course, were spoiled. The racing was characterised by small fields. Results:— November Hurdles, of 300 sovs; three miles.—Woolloomooloo, 10.3, 1; Minato, 10.11, 2; King's Ransom, 11.4, 3. Eleven starters. Won by a length, with eight lengths between second and third. Time, smin 37% see. Mimosa Stakes.—Woolerina. 1; Pais-1 tre, 2; Calider, 3. Also started: Elongium, Silver Shield. Blythsome, Veneta, Lady Camela. Won easily, with a neck between the next two. Time, lmiu 15>/ 2 sec. Linlithgow Stakes, of 1000 sovs; on« mile.—Beverage, 8.10, 1; Aborigine, 9.4, 2; Flavinius, 0.7, 3. Also ran: Gold Lace, Captain White, Full Sail, Eyeglass, Hartfell, Indiscreet. Gold Lace and Full Sail made the running, the former leading to the live-furlongs post. Won by a length and a half, three-quarters of a length separating second and third. Time, lmin 44% sec. Carnival Handicap, of 500 sovs; one mile and a quarter.—Dhobi, 7.13, 1;| Nuwarra Eliya, 7.12, 2; Maltine, 9.1, 3. Also ran: Conje Deslire, Kyeadgerie, Carl Dour, Chauvelin. Conge Deslire, Nuwarra and Carl Dour led the field to the five-furlong post, where Nuwarra passed Conge Deslire. Nuwarra led into the straight, but Dhobi cut him down and won easily. Time, 2min Conge Deslire was last. Oaks.—Styria, 1; Lager, 2; Moorilla, 3. Also ran: Blue Gem. The others were scratched. The order to the mile post was, Styria, Moorilla, Blue Gem. Stvria and Morilla were together at the Abattoirs, witJh a four lengths lead. Styria easily passed Moorilla into the straight, "nd won easily by two and a half logths, four lengths between the next two. Time, 2min 43y 2 sec. Veteran Stakes, of 300 sovs; one mile and a half.—Matouree, 7.13, 1; Prize F'srhter, 6.7, 2; Optimism, 6.11, 3. Also rav : Lord Nolan, Posture, Iliad, Imprint. Prize FigMer led at the distance, where Matouree, who was running last, put in a fast run and won easily by one and a quarter lengths, Optimism twelve lengths away. Time, 2min 39y 4 sec.
