THE HINE CHARGES.

AS AFFECTING A LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLOR. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the Legislative Council this afternoon, the Committee on Privilege, appointed to consider the charge made against a member of the Council by a menib'er of the House of Representatives, reported that the. charge involved a broach of the privileges of the Council. A message to that effect was ordered to be sent to the House. The Hon. T. K. Mac Donald suggested that a committee be set up at the earliest possible moment to investigate the charges made against him. On the motion of the Attorney-General, a Select Committee was set m to investigate the charges, the committee consisting of the Hons. J. Rigg, T. Thompson. J. E. .Tcnkinscn, J. B. Callan, J. R. Sinclair, 0. Samuel, C. M. Luke, and the mover. FROM PILLAR TO POST. Wellington, Last Night. The matter came up in the House this afternoon, when a message was received from the Legislative Council in regard to the message from the House referring to the charge made by Mr. J. B. Hine aeainst the Hon. T. Iv. Mac Donald, M.L.C., and pointing out that the charge involved a, breach of the privileges of the Council. On Sir .Tosenh Ward's suggestion, consideration of the message was postponed till to-morrow.
