ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
MINING ACCIDENT. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Westport, Last Night. Men have been at work d;vv and night in clearing the fall away in the Woodend section of the Westport Coal Company's Denniston mine, where the accident occurred yesterday, and have reached the coal tubs without discovering the bodies of the two missingi men. It is now necessary to strengthen the coal before proceeding further. Mr. Dixon anticipates recovering the bodies to-mor-row.
A WOMAN DROWNED. Auckland, Last Night. The body of .Mrs. Blandford, the wife of a telegraph linesman, residing at Mercer, was found in the Waikato river today. The woman, who had been in delicate health for some time, left her home on Thursday of last week, and as she did not return her absence occasioned anxiety. Search parties set out, but all efforts" to trace her proved fruitless till to-day, when the body was seen floating in the river.
