MORAL LESSONS FOR SCHOOL PUPILS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Coleman Phillips' offer to hang in all the Wellington schools "sheets of moral lessons," met with a chilly reception from the chairman of the Education Board (Mr. R. Lee) this afternoon. If these were hung up in schools they would, he said, be regarded as haviag the imprimatur of the Board. One could, not endorse all these moral lessons. Mr. Vile said he had perused the "lessons" on leisure Sundays, and found some of them most objectionable. The application was declined. TEACHERS' TRAINING COLLEGE. Wellington, Last Night. The Wellington Education Board has purchased two acres of land at Kelburne for £.'!<!oo, on which it is intended to build a new teachers' trainj/t&, college. The building at Thorndon, -now used as a training college, will revert back to the priniary school. FREE SCHOOL BOOKS. Timaru, Last Night. The Education Board to-day expressed its disapproval of the free school book system. Teachers state that parents prefer to purchase for themselves, for fear of infectious complaints.
