WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. •SECOND DAY. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The second day of the Wellington Racing Club's Spring meeting was concluded in showery weather. Light rain commenced early, and continued all day, the attendance consequently suffering. Lord Islington and party attended the meetig. The going was soft and against fast times. The totalisator investments foi the day were £14,503, against £13,008 last year, making a total of £24,361 for the meeting, compared with £24,297 for last year's meeting. Twenty-one bookmakers were licensed. Results:—
Tararua Handicap, 7 furlongs.—W. C. Ring's Domino, liyrs, 7.10, 1; J. Buckley's Dearest, 8.13, 2; llighden's Kilosteri, 7.7, 3. Also started: Teotane, First Battery, Torpoint, .Mediterranean. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 31 2-osec. Juvenile Handicap, four furlongs.—J. D. Ormond's Miscount, 9.0, 1; J. 11. Prosser's Dirge, 7.11, 2; Sir Geo. Clifford's Avarice, 8.2, 3. Also started: Sinapis, Bronze, Aloha. Won by half a length. Time, 50 l-ssec. Spring Trial Stakes, six furlongs.—W. E. Bidwell's Inspection, 7.8, 1; W. Smart's Merrie Frank, 8.4, 2; C. Ross' Deploy, 7.3, 3. Also ran: Varna, Ladrone, Longwood. Won by threequarters of a length. Time, lmin IS 2-osec. Pearce Handicap, one mile. C. J. Watts' Wimmera, 8.0, ]; Hon. J. D. Ormond's Sir Tristram, S.O, 2; J. Ames' Merrivonia, 3. Also started: Iranui, Llanwern, John, Swimming Belt, Ambrosian, Royal Marine. Wimmera and Merrivonia got in front at the start, and led the field into the homo turn, where the Merriwee filly fell back, and Sir' Tristram came along behind the favorite, but was unable to head him, and suffered defeat by a length. Merrivonia finished three lengths awav, John fourth, Jranui fifth, and Llanwern last. Time, lmin 43 3-ssec. Second Hack Hunters' Steeplchase, twe miles and a half.—G. Scales' Mahora, 1; J. H. Parata's St. Amelia, 2; P. Wotton's Whimper, 3. Also started: Rosegrove, Flamingo, Starlass, Hill Lass, -Oakley, Castout, Sylvia Maid. Won easily. Time, smin 44sec.
Champion Plate, a mile and a quarter.—6. D. Greenwood's Danube, 7.11, 1; J: H. Prosser's Lady Medallist, 8.9, 2; Hon. J. D. Ormond's Birkdale, 7.11, 3. Also started: The Lark, Polymorphous. Danube and Lady Medallist got away when the tapes went up, Polymorphous falling back to last after four furlongs had been traversed. Lady Medallist led Danube into the straight by two lengths and a half, and half a furlong from the post the Martian colt put in a great spurt, and beat Prosser's filly by a length. Birkdale was a long way behind, third. Polymorphous fourth, The Lark last. Time, 2min 11 l-sscc.
Ruahine Hack Handicap, five furlongs. —H. W. Parata's Rongomai, 7.10, 1; C. B. Pharazyn's Longstep, 7.8, 2; M. Ellerton's Ebonite, 7.8, 3. Also started: Directoire, Turna, Grand Jewel, Merrie Time, Bracken, Toapango, Complexity. Won by _ a length. Time, lmin 4 2-ssec. Nainai Handicap, six furlongs.—A. T. McWilliam's and D. Sullivan's Penza, 6.7, 1; M. M. Ellertdn's Sea Queen, 6.7, 2; Hon. J. D. Ormond's Humming Bird, 7.0, 3. Also started: Gipsy Belle, Theodore, Bally Shannon, Hohungatahi. Won easily.
