STRATFORD DAY BY DAY

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. The Stratford Dairy Company havo donated £lO 10s to the A. and P. Association for special prizes in connection with the butter-fat competition. Mr. J. H. Thompson received word last night of the serious illness of his father. Mr. J. Jones, district engineer, visited the show ground this morning to consider the matter of arranging for improvements at the approach from the Mountain road side. The Fire Brigade are holding their annual ball to-night. A large attendance at annual meetings in Stratford apparently is not the. fashion. Three or four athletic bodies have held meetings recently. Soma have secured a quorum after searching the highways and byways; others havo not been so lucky. The small attendance at the meeting to revive the cricket cluo last night was therefore not une» pected. Business, however, was proceeded with, and the following officers elected: Patron, Mr. J. B. Hine, M.P.; president, Mr. J. Masters; vice-president, Mr. A. Budge; captain, Mr. C'argill; vice-captain, Mr A. H. Prebble; secretary Mr. B. Simpson; committee, Messrs. E. Hemingway, T. Anderson, N. Dunlop, and captain, vice-captain and secretary ex-officio. The subscription was fixed at £l.
