FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT PETONE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. A fire did considerable damage early this morning in the sawmill and timber yard leased by Bailey, Austin anl Arcus from €. P. Price, Petone. The flames had a strong hold when discovered. The mill and contents were burnt to the ground, also a valuable stock of dressed timbc® joinery. The books and safe were preserved intact. Bailey and Co. were insured in the Ocean Accident Office for £SOO on the machinery and £SOO on the stock. The loss is estimated at several hundreds above the insurance.
