PEOPLE'S DAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. . Hastings, Thursday. Bright sun and a light breeze made the weather conditions perfect for people's day at the show. The attendance in numbers eclipses last veav. Lord Islington arrived on the grounds at 11 o'clock, and after viewing the exhibits was entertained at luncheon by the officials. At the luncheon Mr. A. H. Russell (president) proposed the Governor's health and welcomed him to llawke's Bay. His Excellency, in reply, said he would endeavor to promote the progress of New Zealand, especially with its main industry, agriculture. Hawke's Bay was moving forward with great strides. He hoped to see further progress made by the adoption of the co-operative system. "It was shown that immense benefit was derived from co-operativo marketing. He hoped his present visit to Hawke's Bay was only one of the many subsequent, occasions on which he would be here. •llrs. H. JI. Campbell's Waiaipo secured the championship in ladies' hacks.
