HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held yesterday, when there were present: Messrs. MacDiartnid (chairman), Glasgow, Wilson, Dockrill and Dr. Fookes. Mr. Smith was unavoidably absent through illness. The chairman reported that, in company with Mr. Smith, he had gone exhaustively into the question of providing an asphalt tennis court for the girls, and had come to the conclusion that the only possible site was where the shrubbery now is in front of the school, but not necessitating the removal of the whole of the shrubbery. It was resolved that the chairman and Mr. Smith be authorised to proceed with the work at once. A letter was read from Mr. Ryder on behalf of the principal inviting the governors to be present at a chemical demonstration by the pupils on Friday afternoon of the 28th inst., which was eordi-! ally accepted. The secretary was instructed to prepare, a list of those who were in arrears with tuition fees, with a view to taking action for their recovery. Accounts amounting to £l4B 8s lOd were passed for payment.
