WIDOW FOUND DEAD. \
By Telegraph.—Press Association, "j Auckland, Monday. Mrs. Dawson, widow of the late Col, Dawson, aged 55, was found drowned in a well near the iback door of her residence this morning. She suffered from inlluonza recently, which left heir depress* ed, but nothing in her demeanor jester* day suggested suicide. The servants heard nothing suspicious during tho night; she had no financial troubles, and her friends are unable to account for the! action. | YOUNG MAN SUFFOCATED. ; Wellington, Monday. Charles IStanley Ellison, second son of Inspector Ellison, was found last night suffocated by gas in the bottle store of' Staples' .brewery. Ellison, who had been suffering from influenza, took seriously a 1 scolding by his father, who told him to find employment promptly, and did not' return home on Saturday night. In turning oft' the light in the bottle store, Elli« son did not notice that a tap on a branoH tube to the heating room had been lefti open. The night-watchman found himl l.ast night, but artificial respiration waS unsuccessful. Deceased was aged 24. i GIRL FATALLY (SCALDED. f. Auckland, Monday. A girl ten years of age, named Nelliflj St. Leonard, died in the hospital yesterday as the result of scalds received on September 10. Deceased, .while endeavoring to open a window in her parents' residence, fell into a vessel containing foiling water, and was terribly scalded. ■FARRIER KICKED BY A HOTV3E. ' Ashburton, Last Night. While James Burgess, a blacksmith, was preparing to shoe a fractious horse this afternoon, the animal lashed out and kicked him on the left thigh. Burgess was removed to the hospital, where it was found that the thigh-bone had been broken. RUN OVER BY A WAGGON; Christeh'ureh, Last Night. A young married man named Iloberfi Seal fell off a waggon on East Belt to- 1 day, one of the wheels running over his chest, causing such injuries as tate his removal to the hospital fen an unconscious condition.
