COTTON DISPUTE SETTLED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, October 6. The cotton lock-out lias been settled. GREAT LOSS OF MONEY. Received 7, 9.30 p.m. London, October 7. Howe, the grinder whose discharge for refusing to pick the cotton seeds from the machinery at Fern Hill precipitated the lock-out, has been found work at a mill in the same town. The grinder he replaces goes to the Fern Hill milL The operatives lost £IOO,OOO in wages during the stoppage of work; while the sum of £30,000 was distributed in strike pay.

The laborers in the Government freezing works struck for an increase in wages of 12s a week. As 1600 sheep were in the yard their demand was granted (Jtnd work resumed.
