TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. A special meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs C. M. Lepper (in the chair), Newton King, u. W. Sole, L. A. Nolan, L. B. Webster, J. H. Hemptor A. Alexander, E. F. Blundell, W. C. Weston, and Co. Ellis. After considerable discussion it was decided that the programme for the ensuing season as submitted by the subcommittee and showing a total increase of stakes of £365 for the Christmas and autumn meetings be approved. It was also decided to amend the scale of penalties as follows:—The winner of any handicap after declaration of weights to carry 71b extra,* of two or more handicaps i"2lb extra. The winner of any hurdle race after declaration of weights to carry 71b extra, or two or more,hurdle races 121b extra. The above penalties will operate at the two meetinss, Taranaki Cup to be excepted, in which race horses may be ire-handicapper. It was decided to 'close the entries for the Hock (Scurry and First Hack ! Flutter at the autumn meeting on the niglht of closing of nominations for all other events. With the above increase, the Taranaki Jockey Club will now be giving £1265 in stakes at the Christmas Meeting and ! £I7BO at the autumn, a total of £3045 for the season. , ; Following are the races which have been increased, with' the previous stakes in parentheses:— CHRISTMAS MEETING. First Day.—Stewards' Hack Handicap ( £so), £100; Ladies' Purse Hack Handicap (£65), £75; Christmas Handicap (open) (£120), £150; First Wielter Hiw/k Handicap ( £65), £80; Flying Handicap, open ( £80), £IOO. Second Day. —Electric Hack Handicap (£65), £80; Summer Hack Handicap. (£80), £100; 'Second Welter Hack Handicap ( £65), £80; Farewell Handicap, open (£7O), £BO. AUTUMN MEETING. First Day.—First Handicap Hack Hurdles (£6O), £80; Stewards' Handicap (£100), £ 125; Okato Hack Handicap ( £65), £76; Flying Handicap (£1110). £l5O.
