MOA ROAD BOARD.
——r MO-Sllk, i MEETING. The Moa Road Board met on Saturi day. There were present: Messr o . li. Trimble (chairman), R. T. vv'iitiams, Collingwood, J. Williams, A. E. Lawrence, Virgin, Bishop and Anderson. FOREMEN'S REPORTS. Foreman Jones reported that repairs to Norfolk road and draining on Norfolk road west had been completed. Messrs. J. Bridgeman and Buckthought ■had been topping fences, and had stacked the ruibbish on the road. —Resolvea to give notice to the persons mentioned that the pine-tops must be removed. Foreman Hoskin reported that Hurstlioase road bridge near the mill required new studs. The tunnel on Upland roaa south was liable to collapse at any time. A new culvert was required on Egmoat road south. A piece of this road between Taylor's and Baxter's had never been metalled, and Mr. Gibson was prepared to give some stone if the Board would cart and spread it. A 46ft tunnel on the Windsor road near Mrs Alleman's was beginning to cave in, and he Tequired some 2ft pipes for it. The Hursthouse road settlers had carted out 15 yards of metal from Davis pit on to the road, and 10 yards of shingle from Marshall's. There was a good deal of stone to be carted out yet. The foreman was authorised to effect repairs to the Hursthouse road bridge, to renew the culvert on the Egmont road south, and to obtain the gravel from Mr. Gibson's as mentioned in his report. Minor repairs were authorised. The chairman's action in authorising •metal for Egmont road south was confirmed. .Foreman Ludeman reported on general repairs executed during the month. —Minor repairs on Lincoln, Bristol east, and Lincoln and York roads were authorised. The clerk was instructed to serve notice on Mr. Gardiner to keep his pigs off the Mangatea road, and to remove the fences. Foreman Bennett's report was read. He will be instructed to attend to the i upper end of Ratapiko road, and to repair the bridge on the Mokukawa road. | MISCELLANEOUS. Mr. J. W. Harding wrote drawing attention to the ba'd state of the Norfolk road east, opposite his property. The drain was rotten, and the water was running all over the road and on to his farm.—Referred to the foreman. Mr. James Tarry, of Inglewood, wrote that he had moulds for making concrete pipes, and solicited an order.—lt was decided to ask Mr. Tarry for quotations for specified sizes.—The Board contemplate buying moulds and making its own pipes. Seventeen ratepayers in the Norfolk road west special rating district petitioned the Board to make and levy for the ensuing year a special rate of a half-penny in the £ on their properties for the purpose of repairing the road.— No action at present. The Board passed a resolution authorising Foremen Bennett and Ludeman to impound cattle from the roads under their supervision.
