INGLEWOOD NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A local team of players journeyed to Eltham on Thursday to meet a team representing the western division. The local team proved victorious after an interesting game by 0 to 3. Wednesday evening the Val4are Performers played to a full house, and put on a first-class performance. The audience were appreciative, and applause was frequent. On Thursday a tremendous crush of people swarmed in and around the Parish Hall on the occasion of the school social. The arrangements, however, were very complete, and the comjfort of everyone was attended to as well as the limited space permitted. The \yjhole affair, which was in aid of the piano fund, was a huge success. The Cottier family, Mr. J. Sutherland and Miss Richards were responsible for excellent music, while the supper left nothing to be desired. Mr. Stratford performed his burdensome task of M.C. with great credit. Rovers of music received a treat on Wednesday night, when the Knox Church Uioir, with local and outside soloists, presented to. an appreciative audience their programme of sacred music. The | efficient manner in which 'the choir rendered the four anthems spoke of weeks of practice and plenty of talent. A trio by Messrs. Law (organ) and Cottier (violin and cornet) was much appreciated, as was a quartette, "There is a green hill," iby .Messrs. Albert and Roberts andMesdames Roberts and Richardson The following solists also contributed items, which were well received although applauge was not allowed:— Mesdames Hoby, Bacon, Cutler and «?and a " srs " Hines and M.
