STRATFORD NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, L;i-t Night. As showing the expense that the Taranaki Union is put to on account of its scattered area, it may be mentioned that this year the travelling expenses of representative players and of the Management Committee have come to over £IOO. It is reported that Mr. N. Fulton, of the Auckland butter grading staff, is to be placed in change of one of the Taranaki cow-testing associations. At a meeting of the Lowgarth Dairy Company, Messrs. B. Brooker, A. Burke and A. T. Sulzberger were appointed directors, and Mr. A. Coleman auditors. Mr. A. E. Gray was elected chairman of directors. The Electric Light Company have fixed the price of their goodwill at £SOOO. The letter making the offer, and which suggests that if a conference is desirable the company will appoint three directors, was referred to the Light Committee of the Council. The skating fever has extended to iStratford, and on Monday a jink will lie opened at the Town Hall. The Borough Council have agreed to charge the iStratford Dairy Company £25 a year for the water used at the factory. * Bee-keeping may be a profitable occupation. To the student of nature it may be very interesting, but a Stratfor I resident is of the opinion that the hobby possesses drawbacks, and considers that the Government, since it is prepared to legislate on any conceivable subject, should declare that bees with stings are "noxious insects." A match was fired on Thursday ibettween the Stratford and Eaponga Rifle Clubs, the latter winning by 747 to 670.
