NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Fourteen members attended the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Cricket Club last night. Mr. E. Whittle presided, and in his opening remarks commented on the unwillingness of members to take part in the management of the club. The annual report, as already published, was adopted. Officers were re-elected: President, Hon. 0. Samuel, M.L.C.; vice-presidents, Dr. Walker, Messrs. W. Bewley and D. Teed; club captain, Mr. E. Whittle; secretary and treasurer, Mr. M. G. Williams. For the committee the following were elected: Messrs. Nicofl, Price, Arden, Gordon, two captains, the secretary and club captain; delegates to the Association, Messrs. Whittle, Nicoll and Gordon; delegates to Sports Ground Committee, Mr. H. Stoc'ker; auditor, Mr. A. Goss. It was decided to write to the principals of the Central and High Schools, renewing the offer to give two boys from each school free membership. The club decided to play one senior and one junior team in the Thursday competition;' and to enter a team, if one can be obtained, in the Saturday competition. | The season will be opened on Thursday, September 29, and the committee will fix the ground for.the first practic.\ lae secretary was instructed to apply to the committee for the use of the Recreation Sports Ground. The trophies presented by an enthusiast to the juniors were handed oveT to Messrs. Gordon, Morey and Allen, according to the vote of the members of [the team. The same donor then presented a bat to the club, to be given to the member of the junior team who shows the greatest improvement in the coming season.—Mr. Whittle thanked the donor, on behalf of the club, for his generous interest in junior crWket. It was decided to "post" the names of a senior and a junior player who had refused to pay the club subscription. It was decided to meet the proposed new Saturday club with a view of sharing cost of grounds and material. 'Mr. E. Lash, who tendered his resignation, after a membership of twenty years, was elected a life member of the club. ' Votes of thanks were passed to the secretary and treasurer, and to the press, which concluded the business. THE ATHLETIC CLUB. ' A meeting of the New Plymouth Soccer Club was held last night in the club rooms to discuss a proposal to iotm. a cricket club. There- was a good attendance. Mr. T. R. Southall was voted to the chair. It was decided • thai a cricket club be formed, and called the Athletic Cricket •Club. It was decided to defer to a future mee,ting_ to settle whether to run two senior leains 'or one senior and one junior team. The following officers were elected:-—., President, Dr. E. A. Hedley; club captain, Mr. T. R. Southall; committee, Messrs. G. H. Saunders. W. Bowler, W. Goddardy D. Bevan, with secretary, treasurer and club captain; selection committee, Messrs! G. H. Saunders and G. Cooper, in conjunction with club captain and the teams' captains; delegates to association, Messrs Gwillim and Bowles. The club starts with a roll of twentyfive members and this will be considerably augmented. There are several defections from the ranks of the New Plymouth Club's players this season, owing' to the legal offices changing their half-holiday from Thursday to Saturday. The men of the law are forming a team of their own. The Carrington Road Club holds its annual meeting on Tuesday next. '
