The day was simply an ideal one and the conditions perfect for the opening of the New Zealand Men's Coif Championship meeting at 'Shirley, an easterly zephyr blowing across a cloudless sky, and the links looking their 'best. The entries, of which the grand total is 452, are well up to standard, and the competitors include practically all the New Zealand cracks. The ten highest on the list are: —A.
