ATHLETICS.
COUNCIL MEETING. By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met to-night. The Wellington centre wrote that the matter of levying on ex-members of affiliated clubs in aid of the Olympic Games Fund would be decided when replies had been received from all the clubs. The proposal would be discussed by most of the clubs at their annual meetings.
The Amateur Athletic Union of Australasia (Sydney) wrote that the mail note of the New Zealand Association in regard to a new racing rule had been answered in the affirmative. The Victorian Association agreed, but suggested the following wording: ■ "When in the opinion of the referee a competitor has given up a race, 'he may order such competitor at once to leave the track." It was agreed to notify the Union that the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association approved of the wording suggested bv the Victorian Association. A notification was received stating that the Y.M.C.A. Amateur Athletic Club had been out of existence for two years. The letter was received. In reply to an account for subscriptions due, the matter was referred to the Wellington centre. It was arranged to hold the annual meeting of the Association on November 28th. Part of the business will be the consideration of proposed new rules. The chairman remarked that Mr. Callan had yet to levise the draft rules, which would be sent, out to centres, with an intimation that after being confirmed at the annual meeting, they would become rules of the Association. Centres might forward such proposed amendments as they considered desirable.
