BOXING.

AUSTRALASIAN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Australasian Amateur Boxing Tournament was concluded last evening; the attendance again being large. The boxing was clean and spirited. The championship honours were evenly divided between New South Wales and New Zealand, the Australians winning the three lighter and the local men the three heavier classes. King (N.S.W.) defeated Hogan (Queensland) in the bantam weight. Read (N.S.W.) beat Sliields (Palmerston North) in the feather weight division, after an extra round. Lacey (N.S.W.) defeated O'Hallorui (Auckland) in the light weight class, after two extra rounds. Watchorn (Palmerston North) beat Shaw (N.S.W.) in the welter weight, after an additional round. Matthewson (Dunedin) beat Shaw (N.S.W.) in the middle weight class. Pooley (Auckland) beat Doran (Victoria) in the heavy weight class, after the most exciting contest of the tournament. The visiting boxers were entertained to-day at a harbour excursion and dinner at Trtkanuna. The southerners leave by to-night's Main Trunk express, ami the Australians by the steamer Wimmera to-morrow. The refeering ana judging at the tournament have generally given satisfaction.
