HOUSE "DESTROYED AT IPORT CHALMERS.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The Port Chalmers fire brigade were called from their annual ball early yesterday morning to deal with a sevenroomed house on fire in Currie Street.) The fire lhad a firm hold when the fire-j men arrived, and as the water pressure was poor, the building was quickly reduced to a heap, of ruins. The house was owned and occupied by Peter Ross, tanner. The fire is thought to have started in the dining-room, where Mr. and Mrs 7 . Ross had spent the evening. The occupants lost everything. The house was insured far £3OO in the New, Zealand office and the furniture for £250 in the Standard. The loss is estimated to exceed the insurance by between £2OO and £3OO. I
