AMUSEMENTS.

BIOGRAPH PICTURE CO. Considering the excellence of the programme submitted at the Theatre Royal last evening, the Biograph iPic'ture Co. were deserving of a much better house. In addition to a splendid series of moving pictures, two very clever turns were given by Miss Fanny Halle (balancer and gymnast) and The Ardells (equillibrists and gymnasts). The work of these artists is above the ordinary. Miss Halle dances gracefully to the footlights and then proceeds with exceedingly artistic and clever balancing turns. Balancing a lighted lamp on her head she goes through a series of gymnastics with remarkable ease. Placing a bottle upright on a table she poses herself on one foot on the mouth of the bottle with the lamp still balanced on her head. She then glides from an ordinary table, head first, with the lamp still balanced. Her gymnastic work on two ladders, with the lighted lamp still iu position, is a wonderfully clever exhibition. Miss Halle well deserved the applause that greeted her at the conclusion of her performance. The work of Mr. C. L. Ardell is wonderful and amusing. Most of his ■finished work is done in an inverted position. He balances himself on one hand on a walking stick with his feet in the air, disclosing great strength, of wrist and arm muscles. He then introduces his partner, a dummy in female attire, and, introducing a lot of fun into his performance, moun' i on dummy's shoulders. Placing his head on dummy's lie balances himself and spins around with his feet in the air, all the time puffing :• cigarette with perfect calmness. He finishes perfectly ifresh, and surprises his audience by his dummy "coming to life" and walking off the stage. These clever artists will repeat their respective turns to-night. This afternon a matinee performance for children will be given.
