TARANAKI CENTRE. \- A meeting of the executive committee of the Taranaki centre of the New Zealand Athletic Union was held in New Plymouth yesterday morning. Present: Messrs. J. Clarke (chairman), A. Hansen, and J. H. Thompson (secretary). T. M. Hall alias Ryan,— Hasterts alias H. Foster, and E. Whaler alias E. Whelan were disqualified during the pleasure of the union for furnishing incorrect lists of performances and running under assumed names at the Mangatoki sports on April 7. In connection with the races won by the first two men mentioned (Whelan having been unplaced), the Mangatoki Club was directed to award the prizes to the second men in each race. T ,E. Taylor, who won the half-mile race at the Kaponga sports on April 21, was disqualified until December 31 next for not furnishing a full list of performances. The committee upheld the action of the Kaponga Club in disqualifying for its sports meeting one Thomson, who had also failed to give a complete list of performances . The Kaponga Club was directed to award the first prize to the man who ran second to Taylor in the half-mile. The committee upheld the action of the New Plymouth Caledonian Society in having the mile and a-half cycle race at its last meeting re-run on account of the race when first run having been over a distance a lap short of the proper distance. Adlam's protest in connection with the matter was dismissed. The committee was hampered somewhat in its work owing to the loss of documents when the secretary's office was burned some little time ago.
