"Theatre-goer" writes:—lf New Plymouth theatre-goers want to see the i best companies here, staging their full- , sized scenery and presenting the masterpieces of stagecraft as the stage management loves to see them presented, a bigger theatre is needed. The scenery used at Monday night's performance of "Aladdin" had not been used in New Zealand before, and is for use in the I "smalls." For how long is the present theatre, with all- its inconveniences, to be made to serve? The difficulty of providing <the seating accommodation alone , is almost enough to make a manager cut | the town out of his tour, but then there (is always a hundred or two to ibe made by dropping in here for a night. A big- . ger and better theatre, with something [better than Austrian bentwoods for the j five shilling seats, would doubtless increase the ranks of local playgoers.
