Sydney, August 20. The rectorship of St. James Church, which has been vacant over a year, and has caused much bickering, has been accepted by the Rev. Archibald Shields, of Victoria. FIREMEN ON STRIKE. Sydney, August 20. Six firemen prevented the departure of the steamer Grantala for Melbourne last night. Being prevented from vaking liquor aboard they refused duty. Other firemen sympathising, refused to join the ship, which has not yet sailed.
