NEW WELLINGTON THEATRE. —yyt.< Y.ifCr* By Telegraph.—Press Association. -® Wellington,, Saturday. A strong company was formed in Wellington to-day to be called the Electric Theatres, Ltd. The company will erect a theatre behind Hume's Willis Street, primarily for a moving pictures show, though it will be suitable for use as a skating rink or for ordinary theatrical entertainments.
COW-TESOING IN SOUTH TARANAKI. r : Hawera, Saturday. The second Cow-Testing Association in the Dominion has been formed iby a district dairy farmers' meeting con* veiled at Kaupokonui. Mr. Cuddie addressed the meeting on the value of cow-testing. He gave particulars .of bow is was carried on in Denmark, and also 'quoted America, Canada, and Scotland, where the system of cow-testing was followed. He explained • thai the ? !dev partment would assist by carrying oui! the work of testing-and oupapiling figures as to the results. Mr. Singleton quoted the results of the Dalefieid Association. After hearing the addresses it was decided to form an association. Twenty-two names are being enrqllecl, and the number of cows is 1431. TIDAL OBSERVATIONS. Wellington, Saturday. IA deputation representing Wellington Philosophical Society waited upon Mr. Millar to-day with a request that Government should provide,the Terra Nova, Captain Scott's Antarctic vessel, with a tide guide in order that tidal observations might be made in the Fair South. The Minister said Government had already given £IOOO, 'and : ; he yteja, mot going to give another £4') ' Tf fue Tferra Nova had not a tidal guide he would get a loan of one on condition that the Government had the benefit of any observations made. •. , . ~ , FEDERATION OF LABOUR. Wellington, Saturday. At the Federation of Labour Conference to-day it was resolved to draw .up a declaration showing the attitude of the conference on arbitration. The applicants f,or two, of these were Rejected as unsuitable. In the third case two applicants were successful in gettin'g other sections. Fifty applicants went to the ballot.
