SUDDEN DEATH.

A painfully sudden death occurred at Patea on Wednesday evening (reports the local paper). A man named Thomas Scott was engaged doing some gardening; work. 'Shortly after luncheon he waa observed lying in a dazed condition, and wias promptly removed to the hospital, where ihe expired at 7 o'clock the same evening. Deceased was only 26 years of age, and had been engaged for some time in the Tatea district as a well borer. A sad feature of the case is the fact that he leaves a widow and four small children to mourn his untimely death. A short time ago he had an attack of influenza, and it is probable that over exertion caused the rupture of a blood vessel on the brain. It has not been deemed necessary to hold an inquest.
