OUTSIDE ENQUIRIES. Amongst the many outside enquiries for Taranaki oil is one from Gisborne asking the Taranaki Petroleum 'Company to quote prices for crude oil. Yesterday No. 3 'blew off many times during the day, the gas escaping out aver the top of the derrick. The Mind pump was used all day to clear t.he bore, and to-day boring operations will be continued if the gas pressure falls sufficiently to permit of this. Thirty barrels of oil have been saved since Tuesday. In connection with the collection of information in regard to a refinery, boilermakers have been communicated with and asked to quote prices for boil-1 ers and tanks. The company thinks I the work can be well (lone in the Dominion, and would much prefer to em ploy New Zealand firms. Geological specimens of the various strata met in No. 3 have been sent to Dr. Bell, Government Geologist, for his | examination.
