The newspapers are advocating compulsory service and suggest tiiat the manoeuvres prove that the Territorials fail in their knowledge, and that the physique is poor and the discipline insufficient. A magistrate sentenced a Territorial named David Cunningham to a month's hard labour for disobeying a sergeantmajor's drill order. Drummer Kneath, of the Swansea Territorials, was also sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment for impertinence to Captain Syme.
