OPERATIONS AT MOTUBOA. Operations ut No. 3 bore became very interesting yesterday. The manager reports that at a depth of between 3080 and 3088 feet he met with a very strong vein of gas, which he considered was the strongest vein yet met with on the field. The well was full of water and silt, and the pressure of gas was so enormous that during the morning the slash was hurled over the top of the derrick three times, aud the performance was repeated three times (luring the afternoon. Towards the latter part of the explosions it was noticeable that there
were large quantities of oil amongst the spoil. Th > gas was issuing with such force that .lie tools became unworkable. •" It is hope i to resume work this morning. At No. 1 well the bore is reamed out to a depth of 1200 feet. The caving has been inserted to a depth of 1135 ; feet. \ At No. 2 well the flow of oil continues satisfactorily.
