FIGHTING CONSUMPTION
POSITION IN AUCKLAND. By' Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. A question that is being considered by the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board is that of estaohsning a'sanatorium for consumptives. At present they are housed more or less unsatisfactorily in an annexe ia the Costley Home, apd the chairman urged a,t last meethi'g that what was really needed was a properly built sanatorium under the board's control. Mr. Jotter thought the board might save (money by arranging to have all cases sent to the Government sanatorium at Cambridge. " Dr. Guinness said that the Government sanatorium would not receive or treat incurable cases, and the result was that they returned to-their homes and spread contagion. In his opinion it was essential that the board should erect a sanatorium which would be a refuge for people suffering from the i disease in a chronic or incurable form.
