Melbourne, August 10. 'lt is estimated that Mr. Justice Higgins' award will result in an increase, of at least £70,000 yearly in wages in the Australian boot trade. Fully 5000 adult workmen will benefit, the added wage averaging about 6s< a head weekly, and additional expenditure will be necessitated with regard to apprentices. The present award is binding on those employee only who were respondents in the Court proceedings, but the Boot Employers' Federation intend to apply for a common rule to extend the. award.
