ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A BOATING FATALITY. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, Friday. George Clark and Alfred Clyde Millett were capsized in a dinghy off Pollock, Manukau, yesterday. Clark tried in vain to. assist Qiis companion, and nearly lost his own life in the attempt. He reached shore very exhausted. Millett was carried away by the backwash of a big wave and drowned. SUDDEN DEATH. Christchurch, Last Nigllit. A married sailor named Sidney Phipps, aged 67, with a family of five, all grown up, was taken ill suddenly in the D.I.C. premises at midday to-day. 'He was removed in an unconscious condition to the hospital, where he died half an hour later. A FATAL ACCIDENT. Napier, Last Night. J. B. Arnott, storekeeper at Petane, who had the base of his skull fractured through being thrown from a trap on Thursday, died in the hospital this afternoon. An inquest will be held to-mor-row.
