ARBITRATION' BILL. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Melbourne, August 4. In the House of Representatives the Arbitration Amendment Bill was further discussed. The Opposition pointed out that raising wages meant raising prices. It merely lowered the value of the sovereign. Mr. Deakin doubted if preference to unionists, as proposed, was constitutional. Several Labor members supported the Bill, and the debate was adjourned. WORKMEFS COMPENSATION. j Sydney, August 4; In the Assembly the Workmen's Com-1 pensation Bill passed through committee. In the Legis l rtive Council medical members strong 1 criticised the Tuberculosis Notification Bill, stating that it was harsh and cruel and unnecessary. The Vice-President of the Executive promised that if advised by the Government medical officer that pulmonary tuberculosis' was the only communicable 'form ihe would amend the measure. The second reading was carried. THE MINERS' DISPUTE. Sydney, August 4. Seaham Miners' Lodge, to which Mr. Paterson belongs, refuses to hear the revelations promised.
