THE CRIPPEN CASE
GETTING READY FOR THE CAPTIVE. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, July 27. The Canadian Pacific authorities by wireless from Montreal ordered the steamer Montrose to proced slowly from Gape Race across the Gulf and up the St. Lawrence to enable the Laurentic, which hits a detective on board, to arrive first. The captain was specially warned to take measures to prevent the suspects committing suicide. IDENTIFICATION ASSURED. Received July 29, 0.30 a.m. London, July 28. The Montrose in reported by wireless "All well." The Chronicle states that the Laurentic is ahead of the Montrose. A steward of the latter frequently played billiards at a public house in the vicinity of Hill Drop Crescent, and must have seen Crippen, who was an habitual customer there. Scotland Yard communicated by Avireless with Detective-Inspector Drew last night. ~;,,
