CHEAPER CABLES.
REDUCTIONS PROPOSED. By Cable—Press Association.—Copyright London. July 27. The Pacific Cable Board proposes to reduce the rate on messages,in plain language, delivered' within 48 hours, to Is 6d per word. All the Governments concerned approve the proposal. The British Post Office,is in favor of instituting half rates "on deferred messages generally on all long distance lines. A conference of the companies concerned will be held to discuss tJie idea on July 29.
