SUDDEN DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Whangarei, Yesterday. Charles Henry Rack straw, - »ged over fifty, died in a settler's stable at Kiorewa early yesterday morning. His horse was standing in one of the stalls. Deceased and others, on horseback, left Whangarei on Saturday night far Tangiteroria, where Rackstraw had been living. It is assumed that deceased was somewhat affected by liquor, and his companions left him in the stable to .sleep off the effects, and that he had died of heart failure. NEARLY DROWNED. Wellington, Monday. Mr. Herbert, a member of the Meyneil and Gunn Company, fell into Wellington torbor whilst trying to board the MaTaroa with the aid of a rope after she had left the wharf on Saturday night. He had got halfway to the deck when his strength wave out, and he fell into the harbor. Constable Wade jumped in after the actor and pulled him out. The Mararoa meanwhile put back and picked Mr. Herbert up.
