Sympathisers with the Grand Trunk strikers, urged by women, mobbed the strike-breaking crew of a freight train at Brockville, Untario. The Riot Act was read, and a company of militia quelled the disorder. Mr. Hays, president of the Grand Trunk, declares that the strike has been broken. APPOINTMENT OF ARBITRATION BOARD URGED. Received July 25, 11.20 p.m. Ottawa, July 25. Efforts are being made to induce the Grand Trunk Railway strikers to accept' the appointment of a Canadian-American board' of arbitration. AMERICAN STRIKERS RESUME WORK. New York, July 24. Train men on the Wabash lines resume work on Tuesday. THE AVONMOUTH STRIKE. London, July 24. The strike of Avonmouth dockers has been settled, the Federation men . withdrawing on Wednesday. NEW SOUTH WALES WAGES BOARD. AN EMPLOYEES' APPLICATION. Received July 25, 10.35 p.m. Sydney, Last Wight. In the Industrial Court the Colliery Employees' Federation applied for a dissolution of the Northern Collieries Wages Board, with the object of removing Paterson, the employees' representative. The grounds' of the application were alleged incompetency and misconduct, and that the award was likely to be onesidedl After hearing the application, Judge Heydon adjourned the Court, saying he probably would not want to hear the [ other side. ■
