STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, I <ist Night. The appointment of the Rev. W. Butler, M.A., at present attached to St. Mary's Church, Now Plymouth, m sue* censor to the Rev. H. A. Flavall at Stratford is announced. Mrs. P. J. Walshe, of Waipuku, passed away tl*s morning. News has reached Stratford of the death of Mr. S. Ferreday in the Old Country. Mr. Ferreday was well known in Stratford. To-day is Arbor Day, but it is passing unobserved, and considering the rain that has fallen all day it is possibly well that no arrangements were mf.de. There is considerable sickness at present in Stratford, colds an influenza' being very prevalent. As a result the attendance at school has suffered. The Stratford Mounted Rifles are holding a parade to-morrow.
The monthly meeting of the School Committee fell through last night.
