MOROCCAN AFFAIRS.

TORTURED WOMAN RELEASED. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Paris, July 17. The Sultan of Morocco offered M. Weissgenber, the Fez correspondent of the Temps, as a parting gift, a horse and gold-embroidered harness. The correspondent solicited and obtained instead the release of Leila Bakoul Ben Aissa, the wife of the Governor of Fez, who was tortured last month in a most atrocious manner in order to induce her to reveal where her husband's treasure was hidden. The Sultan, for political reasons, declined to release Ben Aissa himself. In an engagement at Muluga river the French repulsed Moorish tribesmen with a loss of 43 killed. The French lost 11 killed and 43 wounded.
