The late Henry Dexter left 2000 for the arrest and conviction of his son's murderer and £200,000 to charities. Dexter's son was murdered in September, 1903, and the crime was ascribed by the police to a conspiracy of lumbermen and others to kill the millionaire owners of large game preserves and private parks, the timber on which was not available for milling.
