FIRES.
A STORE DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wairoa, Monday. A store at Mohaka, owned by Sim and occupied by Strickland, was burned early on Friday morning. The building and stock were destroyed. Insurances total £350, and the loss is £2OO in excess of insurances. # There is no clue to the origin of the fire.
OUTBREAK AT STIRLING, j Dunedin, Last Night A small block of wooden buildings at Stirling was destroyed by fire yesterday morning at about 8 o'clock. The fire is . supposed to-have originated in Mr. W. •* Knox's hairdressing saloon, where a fire was left burning in the grate the previous night. Mr. Knox's saloon and billiard room, with two tables, together with stock, were completely destroyed, as was John Henderson's saddlery, shop and stock, and an empty shop. Hair's dwelling house, adjoining, was saved. Henderson's place and the empty shop were owned by Mr. Simon Lewis, and the insurances were £SO cm each in the United Office. Henderson had his Btock insured for ft similar amount in the same office. Knox's insurance is not known, but it is stated to be only about a third of the loss. , :
