BOWLING.
THE XORTHERy, ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Associativa. Wellington, last Night. Colonel Collins, president, occupied the chair at a meeting of the Council of the ' Northern Bowling Association this evening. A subcommittee which had been appointed to revise the constitution, rules, and laws of the game presented its report, and made a number of recommendations, mainly in the direction of' recognising the principle of centre con- .' trol. The committee recommended that '• the matter be considered at a special meeting on 22nd August, copies of the ' •"■' recommendations to be sent in the meantime to clubs and club delegates. This was agreed to. • /
A suggestion that pairs competitions •, at the annual tournament be abolished * was deferred until the programme for the next tournament is drawn up, : Mr. W. Elliott, president of the Ancle- ' land Bowling Club, was .elected vifce- > president of the Association.
A committee, consisting- of Colonel Collins and Messrs. R. S. T. Bush, W. F. Barraud, J. J. Roberts, A, W. Blanchard, and G. Dixon (secretary)', was appointed to take vigorous steps with the object of securing relief from rates on bowling greens.
