COAL AND OIL FIELDS.
REPORTS FROM ORRPUKI. By Telegraph.—Pre-. Association. lnvercargill, Saturday. Information has been received that the Government drill at Orepuki has struck shale at a depth of 270 ft. Ttie seam is of a high grade, 4ft Din thick. A heavy seam of superior coal has also been struck. Outcrops of coal have been traced over a wide area, an<l the results of the bore indicate that the basin of the lower Waiau is one vast coal and oil field.
