MINE DISPUTE.
DENNISTON MINE IDLE TO-DAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Westport, Last Night. A dispute has occurred at the West* port Coal Company's Dennistou mines over certain increases of pay asked for by the Miners' Union, which is not working under an arbitration award, and the union will have the mine laid idle to-morrow (Monday) for the purpose of considering the grievance at a mass meeting. The management claims that the union is seeking to niter the method of payments which have been in existence for years. In anticipation of the trouble becoming serious, the coaldeaJers b different parts of the Dominion are already making feverish demands for supplies worn jther mines working in the district.
