1 — ■— GORDON SMITH BEATS BAIN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Pahiatua, Wednesday. A wrestling match between Alec Bain, .champion of Scotland, and Gordon Smith toofc iplace at Pahiatua ')ast night. Bain undertook to throw .Smith <our times within an hour or forfeit £25; It was soon seen that Bain was not in anything like condition, while Smith was trained to the hour. After 42% minutes' wrestling Bain threw Smith. This was the only throw. Bain admitted that he had taken on too big a contract, and said that Smith was the best defensive wrestler Tie had met. Smith wrestles Joe Gardiner for £2O on Tuesday.
